your world more clearly
Our RECYCLING Services
Contact Lens Recycling
With growing concern about the environment and particularly the use of plastics in all industries. At Brian D. Suttie (Chalfont) we take our responsibilities seriously and that’s why we’re proud to announce our partnership with ACUVUE® and TerraCycle® with the Contact Lens Recycle Programme.
How it Works
1. Collect your old contact lenses, blisters and foils.
2. Visit us to drop off your used contact lenses, blisters and foils.
3. We will organise collection and recycling.
Vision Aid Overseas
Founded in 1985, Vision Aid Overseas has been helping some of the world’s poorest people to see clearly for over 30 years. Whether you are a teacher in Ghana, a seamstress in Zambia or a school pupil in Ethiopia, poor eye sight can have a devastating impact on your life and livelihood.
Without affordable eye care services, people living with poor eyesight often leave their condition to go untreated which can make their eyesight worse and can, if left untreated for long enough, lead to permanent blindness.
We stopped sending donated second-hand glasses in 2010 when the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) recommended that sending second-hand glasses overseas was not the best way to establish sustainable eye care in developing countries.
How it Works
Instead, we recycle the donated second-hand glasses for their precious metal content (gold frames) and any retro or vintage glasses are sold on our eBay shop or to specialist buyers. We also recycle plastic glasses. The income generated through the recycling process enables us to deliver sustainable eye care services in our partner countries. We do this by:
